CREW MISS SEMI-FINALS AT BELHAVEN FUTSAL TOURNAMENT
CREW MISS SEMI-FINALS AT BELHAVEN FUTSAL TOURNAMENT
JACKSON, Miss – The Gulf Coast Crew made another appearance at the Belhaven College annual futsal tournament. Last year the Crew lost in a thrilling final in overtime against the Blazers from Belhaven College. Much was expected this year as the Crew started off by defeating Meridian Community College in game one of bracket play. In game two the Crew fell to Belhaven Alumni, the eventual tournament champions, by a score of 5-7. The Crew needed to win game three to be the top second place team out of the three tournament brackets in order to make it to the semi-finals. As game three came and went the Crew were upset by Millsaps College and were unable to compete further in the tournament. The team expects to return for the 2010 futsal tournament and finish with better results.

2009 GULF COAST CREW 7-A-SIDE A SUCCESS
PASCAGOULA, Miss. - Under the scorching summer sun, the Gulf Coast Crew 7-a-side soccer tournament was progressed as scheduled and considered a success by all involved. The Gulf Coast Crew finished the tournament with a loss in the semi-final to the Bobcats out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In the final the Bobcats were beaten in overtime by the Whities, who were also from Hattiesburg. With tempetures dangerously above 100 degrees throughout parts of the weekend, the Gulf Coast Crew  have decided to make this annual 7-a-side tournament an afternoon/night tournament for the summer of 2010. The Crew's next competition will be their own Gulf Coast Crew 3v3 tournament on July 11-12 held at the Pascagoula Soccer Complex.

Our goal is to grow the camp every summer as well as giving the kids a reason to get out and play soccer," said camp director, Neil Scott. The Gulf Coast Crew is looking to expand the camp experience by hosting specific team camps, indoor soccer camps, as well as the annual soccer camp. The 2009 camp staff consisted of Neil Scott and Ryan Zelenka, with a Kiddie Kicks staff made up of Katie Alderman and Becca Scott.

CREW TAKES 1ST PLACE AT "FUN 'N SUN" 3V3 TOURNAMENT
CREW TAKES 1ST PLACE AT "FUN 'N SUN" 3V3 TOURNAMENT
GAUTIER, Miss. - With a goal of meeting in the final, two Gulf Coast Crew teams entered into the "Fun 'N Sun" 3v3 tournament. Gulf Coast Crew team red and team white took first place in their respective brackets with a clean sweep to make the play-offs. Gulf Coast Crew red beat "Wasted Effort" in the semi-final to advance to the championship match. Because the acting tournament committee decided flip-flopped their rules, Gulf Coast Crew white had to play down a man the entire semi-final due to a red card. The "MC Choctaws" beat Crew white by one goal as they played 2 verses 3 throughout the semi-final. Crew red did their part in the final as they ran through the "MC Choctaws" with a score of 9-5 to take first place. "It was a pretty unprofessional environment but I'm glad one of our teams did what they were suppose to this weekend," said Gulf Coast Crew white team member, James Poole. The Crew plan on competing next in their own "Christmas with the Crew" 7-a-side in December.

CREW TAKE 3RD AT 3RD ANNUAL "CHRISTMAS WITH THE CREW"
PASCAGOULA, Miss. - Soggy fields set the stage for the 3rd annual "Christmas with the Crew". The wet conditions did not hold back the quality teams that arrived to compete throughout the single-day tournament. With a win over "Meridian FC" and a tie versus "Coastal United" in bracket play, the Gulf Coast Crew advanced to the quarter-finals where they took down "Los Tres" to advance. Unable to gain a bye to the finals via a coin toss, the Crew had to play a semi-final which was lost to "Diversity," the eventual tournament winners. Another successful winter tournament helped to set the date for the 4th annual "Christmas with the Crew" 7-a-side tournament, which is planned for December 11, 2010.
